10 Inspiring Podcasts for Mums
Looking for a new favourite mum podcast? Sure, you could simply take a look at the podcast charts and listen through the most streamed shows. But because free time is so valuable and real gems often fly under the radar, you should ask the people who know best: real mothers. That's why you'll find the 6-Minute-Podcast Charts here in the Mum Edition. Absolute favourites of the colleagues from the 6-Minuten-Verlag who have children. Talk formats that make their everyday life a little bit easier, in whatever way. Properly field-tested and compatible with the family chaos. The order of the podcasts is random and says nothing about their ranking.
1. Be a Lighthouse. The Podcast for a Secure Childhood
What to expect: Dr. Martina Strotz is many things: teacher, family psychologist, music educator, parenting consultant, and editor at Elternleben.de. And through all her fields of expertise, one thing runs like a common thread: parenting with heart and mind. She shares her extensive knowledge in the podcast "Be a Lighthouse" and speaks with the greatest possible empathy about topics such as resilience in children, bonding, mindful parenting, and conflict resolution. In doing so, she combines scientific findings with practical everyday tips.
This is why the podcast is perfect for mums: "Be a Lighthouse" not only provides parenting tips but also encourages mothers to embrace their role to the best of their abilities. Being a mum is something individual that cannot be squeezed into a template labeled "perfect parenting." Martina Strotz encourages mothers without judging.
2. Family Feelings – with Marie Nasemann and Sebastian Tigges
What to expect: Marie Nasemann is a model, actress, sustainability activist, and mum. Together with her husband, entrepreneur Sebastian Tigges, she releases a talk format every week about real parenting – without filters, without perfection, honest. Admittedly, many people on the internet claim these attributes for themselves, when it unfortunately absolutely does not apply to them. But with these two, you really feel like you're sitting at the kitchen table; sometimes casually on the stool, sometimes uncomfortably between the chairs. Ups and downs, partnership, parenting, personal space, arguments, setting boundaries for children, shame, guilt, shattered dreams,... Every facet of everyday life is covered and discussed here.
This is why the podcast is perfect for mums: Because it feels so good to hear that other parents struggle too and that seemingly perfect fake worlds are actually just fake. "Family Feelings" is wonderfully relatable and makes you laugh heartily at the most inappropriate moments.
3. Handelsblatt Morning Briefing
What to expect: Daily business, business daily! Just because the Spotify charts now consist mostly of children's songs, you still want to know what's happening in the world, right? Nowhere else do you get all the important news from business, finance, and politics so concisely. Freshly brewed and served hot to your ears, with episodes about the length of four buttered pieces of bread.
This is why the podcast is perfect for mums: Because it summarises everything important without taking up much time. Between breakfast, work, and organisation, there is often hardly any time to deal with business and politics in detail. But "Handelsblatt Morning Briefing" makes exactly that possible: fast, understandable, and without unnecessary bells and whistles. Perfect for anyone who wants to stay informed without having to fight through long articles. A daily update that fits into your morning routine as if by itself.
4. Mum is the Best
What to expect: In "Mum is the Best," Marlies and Martin talk about child rearing, family life, and partnership – in a critical and scientifically sound way. They question common parenting methods, shed light on historical roots, and show what respectful, non-violent guidance of children really means in everyday life. As a married couple with two children, they know how chaotic and challenging parenting is. That's why they provide thoroughly researched content in every episode, which they combine with their own experiences – with influences from developmental psychology, sociology, neurology, and modern parenting concepts.
This is why the podcast is perfect for mums: Because it questions, reflects, and inspires. Mothers (and fathers!) get sound impulses here to find their own, conscious parenting style. The podcast is particularly valuable for mums who want to deal with mindful parenting, modern pedagogy, and equal communication. If you want to deal deeply with parenting – without the raised index finger, but with a huge dose of reality – you'll get your money's worth here.
5. Meditation for Every Day – Your Podcast for Guided Meditations and Relaxation
What to expect: In "Meditation for Every Day," Paulina Thurm has been offering regular guided meditations since 2019 that can be perfectly integrated into everyday life. The now over 250 meditations are mostly between 10 and 30 minutes long and thus ideal for short breaks or as part of your personal mindfulness routine.
This is why the podcast is perfect for mums: As a mother, it probably isn't easy for you to switch from family organisation and stress to peace and relaxation at the touch of a button. If you therefore fully immerse yourself in a guided meditation, it becomes much easier to unwind. Paulina's pleasant voice is a real oasis of peace. The meditations are also wonderful as a sleep aid or for general stress management, and the positive affirmations strengthen your self-confidence.6. The 6-Minute-Podcast – Personal Development to Go!
What to expect: You probably won't be surprised to see our own podcast listed here. But we really do love it. Above all, with the "6-Minute-Podcast," the name is the program: Every episode is compactly short, yet Dominik manages to fit entire book chapters understandably into this time span. Every episode is based on sound research and scientifically proven findings. The knowledge that belongs to this, which mostly comes from the areas of personal development, psychology, mindset, or productivity, is not lost either: At the end, there are always practical tips that can be implemented immediately. No unnecessary fluff, but clear, sound content in exactly the time you have in between or on the side.
This is why the podcast is perfect for mums: Because it doesn't cost you any time, but rather gives you more free time. If you have to juggle countless to-dos, the podcast is a real lifesaver. It gives you direct impulses that are applicable in everyday life – from productivity and efficient time management to tidying up, organisation, and mental clarity. And if you ever feel too stressed, you'll find your much-needed peace in an episode about mindfulness or serenity. You can also use the episodes like a mobile database – simply scroll through and specifically choose an episode on the topic in which you currently wish for a change or improvement.
7. Understaffed
What to expect: In "Understaffed," Alisa and Toni share their honest and humorous experiences as mothers of multiples. They talk about the challenges in everyday life with twins and triplets and address common prejudices they are confronted with. Open conversations about sleep deprivation, time management, and the balance between family and work are the focus. Through their authentic and humorous approach to parenting and being overwhelmed, the podcast is also a clear recommendation if you are not a mum of multiples.
This is why the podcast is perfect for mums: If you are raising more than one child at the same time, then you know that classic parenting tips often simply don't work – and that is exactly where this podcast sets in. Here you get no unrealistic sugarcoating, but real insights into how you can organise your life with multiples more efficiently, not lose yourself in the everyday chaos, and still create space for yourself. "Understaffed" is not only informative, but also a great relief: You'll learn how to fight overwhelm with humour, you'll feel understood, and you'll realise – you are not alone.
8. Midwife Salon
What to expect: Here you get to know "the other side." In the "Midwife Salon," experienced midwives Sissi Rasche and Kareen Dannhauer meet weekly to talk openly and honestly about all topics surrounding pregnancy, birth, and the time after. With over 40 years of joint professional experience and five children of their own, they share not only sound expertise but also personal stories. This is mostly about the beautiful, but also the challenging sides of becoming and being a mother. Topics such as physical recovery, everyday life with a baby, siblings, and personal experiences are the focus. And if you are pregnant for the first time, the two prepare you fantastically for birth and competently clear up all questions and uncertainties.
This is why the podcast is perfect for mums: Because pregnancy and birth don't only consist of perfect baby bump photos and loving first moments. Everything is discussed here. Sissi and Kareen talk honestly about all that you would have liked to know beforehand: doubts, fears, physical changes, which are often kept silent about, birth preparation, caesarean section experiences, right up to recovery, breastfeeding problems, or mental challenges after birth. In the "Midwife Salon," you get reliable information first-hand.
9. Hazel Thomas Listening Experience
What to expect: The podcast keeps what it promises in the name; listening becomes an experience. Rarely serious, but super funny. Hazel Brugger and Thomas Spitzer are both comedians. And married. They reinforce stories of everyday couple life and parenting with a fireworks of gags and satire, so that you can't get out of the smirking for the whole episode.
This is why the podcast is perfect for mums: Because sometimes laughing is the best way to lower your stress levels. Hazel and Thomas offer the perfect mix of everyday observations, spontaneous banter, and clever humour that is sure to bring a little lightness back into your life. Perfect for listening on the go to lift your mood.
10. Das AE-Team - The Positive Podcast for Single Parents
What to expect: Being a parent isn't always mother - father - child. That's why it's all the more wonderful that there are podcasts that talk about other models. Here, about single parenting by circumstance. Parenting is demanding, and without a partner, it brings its own unique challenges. Silke and Sina know this from personal experience and speak honestly and directly about life as a single mum in "Das AE-Team". Topics such as separation, child-rearing, financial planning, mental load, and self-care take centre stage – always with the aim of showing practical solutions and offering encouragement.
This is why the podcast is perfect for mums: Not every relationship lasts a lifetime – and not every family consists of two parents. If you're a single mum, have gone through a separation or are about to, or would like to explore the topic further – here you'll find honest insights and valuable inspiration. Silke and Sina not only talk about their own experiences but also give other perspectives a voice. Thanks to their active community, the podcast is more than just a radio show – it's a platform for exchange, mutual support, and genuine connection.
