The 12 Best Personal Development Blogs
For our blog, we love researching topics such as self-reflection, habits, mindfulness & more. Today, we'd like to pay tribute to all our colleagues who inspire and amaze us time and again. Here are our favourites among the best blogs on personal development.
1. MyMonk
Tim Schlenzig is the man with the monk in his ear. Since 2012, the former management consultant has been blogging about what his inner monk whispers to him. Among other things, he explores how to listen more to your inner voice so that you can find serenity in our hectic world. He explains insights from positive psychology in simple terms, using parables or personal anecdotes. In this post, for example, he describes a wonderfully amusing sandwich battle that led him to a life-changing question. Tim also supplements some of his blog posts with a podcast lasting around 20 minutes for an extra dose of serenity.
PS: By the way, MyMonk has been one of our founder Dominik's favourite blogs for around four years, because he particularly appreciates Tim's relaxed and empathetic writing style.
2. Zeit zu leben
With the launch of his website in 1998, Ralf Senftleben became a true pioneer of personal development in the German-speaking world. His detailed posts pursue one goal above all: to help you shape your life "autonomously, powerfully and consciously". To do this, he provides you with concrete strategies based on insights from positive psychology, so that you can, for example, bring harmony back into your relationship or crawl out of a motivation slump.
3. Greator
Greator is always a great place to start if you want to grow personally, emotionally or professionally. No matter which area you want to develop a little in right now, you'll always find new ideas here. The platform offers you a wide selection of free video masterclasses, articles and exercises on topics such as self-confidence, inner balance, communication, leadership or financial freedom. Whether you are looking for more clarity in everyday life or need concrete tools for your next step in development, the content is always well-founded and practical. Greator always combines inspiration with practical knowledge and pursues the same vision as we do at the 6-Minuten-Verlag: to make personal development accessible and relevant to everyday life.
4. Glücksdetektiv
Dr. Katharina Tempel is on the trail of happiness. As a psychologist, life coach, author and, of course, blogger, she offers you a scientifically sound yet easily digestible collection of resources for your personal development. And if you ever feel like you don't fancy reading, you can also stop by Katharina's consultation on YouTube .
5. 7mind
The masters of the meditation app not only speak soothingly into your ear, they also love to write about mindfulness – and supplement every magazine article with a 20- to 30-minute podcast episode. Just like us, they place particular importance on scientific rigour and have a true expert in their corner with university professor Tobias Esch. If you want to delve deeper into the topic of mindfulness, you are at the right web address.
6. Healthy Habits
Just like with us, this blog is all about small habits with a big impact – because they form the foundation of our everyday lives. If we manage to develop positive habits, our health, our satisfaction and our success automatically follow. If you have the classic goals "more exercise, less sugar, more happiness" on your to-do list, then Healthy Habits is exactly the right place for you.
7. HabitGym
This gym is open for you around the clock. Instead of weights, however, you lift habits on this blog – because they are the key to long-term change. Jan Höpker, a graduate chemist and former semi-professional poker player, will help you out. His extensive, in-depth articles are packed with practical knowledge and give you leverage to shift even the biggest boulders in your life.
8. Flowfinder
How balanced humanity would be if we could resolve our unconscious conflicts and communicate our needs thoughtfully? Alexander and Eugen, the founders of Flowfinder, have no less ambitious a goal than to make this vision of a better world come true. What at first sounds like an unattainable goal is, on second glance, a completely logical consequence of personal development. If you want to do your part for a better world, then why not start quite comfortably with Flowfinder's articles.
9. DER Persönlichkeits-Blog
Would you like to be coached sometime, but are still hesitating because of the hefty hourly rates? Then let Roland Kopp-Wichmann give you insight into more than 30 years of coaching experience. Perhaps you'll find a case study in his more than 1000 articles that addresses exactly your problem.
10. Karrierebibel
Titles and expertise alone will no longer carry you up the career ladder. As the historian Yuval Noah Harari prophesied, our soft skills will become increasingly important so that we don't have to cede our jobs to a robot. In the Karrierebibel, in addition to all kinds of practical tips, you'll also find self-tests for reflection as well as expert knowledge from psychologists on how you can be the best version of yourself at work too.
Have you already read our guest article “The Soft Skills of the Future” on 7Mind?
11. Mark Manson (English)
The bestselling author of the book “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck” shares life advice on his blog – for yourself. Mark never has an answer, because he, like all of us, is in the middle of the development process. He reads a lot and occasionally thinks about it, as he says self-deprecatingly. He loves to share his cleverest thoughts with people who may be stuck in the same dead end as he is. His writing style is not for the faint-hearted, because his favourite word is “fuck”. But anyone who has a soft spot for his humour will find a real treasure trove of entertaining personal development.
12. Ryan Holiday (English)
Just like in his books (e.g. The Daily Stoic and Your Ego Is the Enemy), his blog is about finding the right mindset. In doing so, the bestselling author builds on the philosophy of serenity – also known as Stoicism. Since he has been in the business for quite a few years, an impressive number of articles has accumulated. It's best to start with his favourites list.
